My name is Cesar Salinas, and welcome to my blog!

I’ve been working in IT for five years now, but before that I spent a decade in retail/customer service. I’ve always loved technology, especially computers, ever since I was a kid.

How It Started

It all started with video games and game consoles. Eventually we got our first used home PC, which opened up a whole new world for me. I started going down internet rabbit holes, finding forums about hacking and exploiting video games. I never created the cheats myself. I just figured out how to safely download them (maybe) and get them working.

Looking back, I realized I enjoyed tinkering with hardware just as much. I followed guides to modify game consoles and fix small issues, even though I had no idea what most of it actually meant. I definitely didn’t know that one day those same interests could turn into a career. Before I knew it, I had become the unofficial IT guy for my family.

Back then the internet felt a lot simpler than it does today.

Finding My Way to IT

Growing up, we didn’t have much. We had the basics, and I was always grateful for that. During high school I knew I loved computers and video games, but I never considered IT as a career because I didn’t know where to start. Like most students, I explored different career paths. At one point I wanted to become an architect, and later I wanted to attend a mechanic school. Unfortunately, college wasn’t financially realistic for my family, and I wasn’t the type of student earning full-ride scholarships.

One thing I did know about myself was that I genuinely enjoyed learning when something interested me. Eventually I realized IT was what I wanted to do for a living.

I never had a mentor or someone to point me toward a career in technology, so I started studying the fundamentals on my own. I already knew the basics from years of tinkering, but I didn’t know the terminology or fully understand the technology behind it. I spent countless hours learning and preparing until I finally landed my first IT role.

I was fortunate enough to have an IT manager who saw my genuine interest and was willing to give me a chance. If you’re reading this, you know who you are. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to get my foot in the door.

Fast forward to today, I genuinely love what I do. Technology is always changing, and I enjoy continuing to learn, staying curious, and improving my skills every day.
